The Historic Downtown Merchants group is now taking reservations for Davie County fine artists who would like to participate in a fine arts festival along Main Street on Saturday, July 17th, from 11am to 3pm. This year’s half day event is planned to assess the feasibility of making this an annual summer event in downtown Mocksville.
In order to proceed with this event, we will need to have commitments from a minimum of 20 artists by June 1st. There will be no booth fee for this initial event, and artists will need to provide their own display setups (tables, chairs, tents, etc). Plans are to position artists with table displays along the west side sidewalks, and those with booths and/or tents will be positioned in the parking lot of The Station on Main Street, and, if response requires it, will be expanded into the square.
Please keep in mind that this is a not a craft show. The event will be open to fine artists and artisans primarily in the following mediums – painting(oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel), drawing(pencil, charcoal, pen & ink), photography(film & digital), sculpture, wood turning/carving, metalwork, pottery, glass blowing/flame work and jewelry featuring primarily natural stone, hand made glass beads, and artisan crafted metal parts. Other categories would be considered on an individual basis.
If you are a fine artist who would like to participate in this event, please contact Chuck King at The Station on Main Street via e-mail and include the following info:
Name, hometown, art medium, type & size of display you plan to bring (ex. 10X10 tent, etc), and, if you have digital images of your work, please attach some examples to the message.
Remember, in order to plan and advertise this event, we need your commitment by June 1st!
